MVM Point Schedule (also below)

There is no fee for entering the Most Versatile Malinois award and membership in the ABMC is not required.  However, the dog being entered must be a Belgian Malinois.   The Most Versatile Malinois and Reserve Most Versatile Malinois will receive trophies matching those of the National Specialty’s Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex: this year that is a chair and large rosette.  While these awards are generally presented at the Banquet since that’s on Thursday, May 23rd the MVM and RMVM awards will be presented at the conclusion of the A Course Herding trials on Sunday May 26, 2024 at Caisson Farm, 10361 Heddings Road in Catlett, VA. If the winners are not present their awards will be mailed to them. Note: The MVM Chair is investigating if the National Specialty photographer would be able to “photoshop in” a photo of the MVM and RMVM dogs on the National Specialty podium with their respective chairs and rosettes.

Dogs must earn points from within at least three of the five Roman-numeral venues below to be eligible for the Most Versatile Malinois Award. Exhibitors may enter as many venues, events within venues, and/or classes within events as they wish: the MVM eligibility requirement is only that the dog qualified in at least three classes from at least three different venues.  Only the single highest number of points resulting from one class within each venue is counted for that venue’s points. The five venues are:

I. Conformation (Thursday May 23rd) / Sweepstakes (Tuesday May 21st)
II. Herding (MVM points are from either Friday May 24th C Course OR Sunday May 26th A Course Trial 1)
III. Obedience (Tuesday May 21st) / Rally (Monday May 20th)
IV. Tracking (Friday May 17th / Scent Work (Wednesday May 22nd Trial 1only)
V. Agility/Preferred Agility (Sunday May 19th)

To enter, submit this MVM Entry Form to:

If emailed/mailed to the chair, the deadline for receipt is Wednesday May 10, 2024. If submitted to the chair in person, the deadline is at least one hour before the first MVM event entered.

The MVM point schedule appears below. Exhibitors may enter as many venues and classes within a venue as they wish, but only the single highest number of points resulting from one class within a venue is counted for that venue’s points. For example, in the III. Obedience/Rally venue, qualifying in Open in Obedience earns 4 points and qualifying in Master in Rally earns 5 points. The single highest number of points earned from this venue would be 5 points.  MVM points are not added together within any one venue, only between the different venues. The bottom of the MVM Point Schedule has the tie-breaking criteria.

The MVM Chair will track the results based on the Show/Trial Secretary’s results. The Most Versatile Malinois Award and Reserve Most Versatile Malinois Award  are determined after all MVM events have been completed.
